As you will all be aware by now, I was hacked
into over the weekend.
I have fixed it by making my password more complicated.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Do NOT go to nbc10onlines.com - It's a scam!
Let this be a reminder! Emails from people you trust will make it
through your spam filter and can be dodgy.
I try to make my emails look recognizable. Same font and colour.
Descriptive Subject field. Same signature; "Hope all is well, Neil" and a link to this site.

Hijacked email addresses.
A hijacked email address is when someone has hacked into your email account and is sending emails
to everyone in your address book.
The email will have a link to a web site that is trying selling something, or worse!
The link will look a
little unusual, something like…
hey Jill I can vacation
whenever i desire http://www.nbc10onlines.com/?article=390472
or…
wow! ))
http://jineraso.t35.com/
YourGoodFriend@msn.com
The
big problem is that because the email came from “Your Good Friend” who you know, like and trust your guard is
down and you just click the link.
We all know not to click a link in an email
if you don’t know the sender but now we have to pay closer attention.
Things to look for…
Subject:
If the subject field is blank or a generic Hi or Hello. Beware!
Avoid sending emails with such subjects.
Body:
If the body
of the email looks like the links above. Beware!
Avoid sending emails that look
like that.
If
you think that your email account has, or will be, hacked into there are 2 fixes.
The
safest is to close the account and open a new one.
The easiest, especially
if you want to keep your address, is to change your password.
The more complicated your
password the less likely you will be hijacked.
Use letters, numbers, cApS and symbols like
an under_score._
Not sure what symbols are allowed? They will let you know as
you type it in.
It’s ok to write it down but keep it away from the computer,
in another room.
Given that most of us
have long since forgotten our email passwords (because we clicked “remember password” how many years ago?) this
would be a good time to change it to something safer.
